つまり、義足は本物そっくりがベストと思われているけど、本当にそれでいいのか、という疑問です。機械を使い、人工素材を使う以上、人の形に似せることと機能は原理的に相反します。本物に似せようとするほど、その違いがあらわになる。だからこそ、人の足を超えた美しい義足を目指すべきではないか。著者が、現場を取材して同じような問題意識を持ってくれたのだとすれば、それはとても心強い事です。
