松井の理論は、ヒトの女性が生物としては例外的に生殖可能年齢を超えて生存することで「おばあさん」が集団の記憶装置としての役割を果たし、そのことで文明の誕生が可能になった、さらに結果としてヒトの文明が地球環境を蝕む結果をももたらしているというもので、「おばあさん」の存在が地球環境を蝕んだことを論じている。
